Outsider music: classics of American classical music (31) - Peter Mennin - Symphony No.7 (1963) Symphony No.7 "Variation-Symphony" - Peter Mennin Another great representative of American neoclassicism from the mid-20th century, alongside Schuman he was probably the most important symphonist. Vigorous music, beautifully written, with an unmistakable American accent. He was also the president of the Juilliard School in New York (succeeding, coincidentally, Schuman) until his untimely death in 1983.
