Public Image Limited - Death Disco
John Lydon was obsessed with the music of Nile Rodgers and his Chic. And that was a good thing. The emerging post-punk built its foundations on '70s funky disco. Many protagonists of the new British scene dressed in black trench coats, studs, and combat boots had packed the live shows of Chic, Kool and The Gang, Parliament, and the like just a few years earlier, side by side with bell bottoms and platform shoes that danced frenetically to the 4/4 beat. 'Death Disco' is a tribute to the inspirations, one of many.
