OSCILLATORS AND SYNTHESIZERS, LADIES AND PIONEERS Bebe Barron (1925-2008) was a key figure, alongside her husband Louis, in popularizing electronic noises and synthesizations, making them accessible through their incorporation into soundtracks (most famously "Forbidden Planet") and as musical backgrounds for audiobooks by contemporary authors. They were the first to assemble a studio for the creation and recording of electronic effects in the late 1940s.
