On his second attempt and after spending his whole life flirting with death (and drugs), he did it. He left us at the end of August at not even 52 years old, shortly after gifting us with one last work, this time under the name Purple Mountains.
Maybe you're wondering who the hell David Berman is; maybe just telling you "Silver Jews" would be enough, or maybe not...
For me, for what it's worth, this is the best album of 2019, a year so sparse of memorable records (there are some nice ones: Michael Kiwanuka, The Comet Is Coming, FKA Twigs, some songs from the latest Vampire Weekend...)
But if the name "Silver Jews" still means nothing to you, just let it go.
