The incredible world of audiophile records. (2)
However, the record that cannot and must not be missing in the good living room of any audiophile is the "Ouverture 1812" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, strictly in one of the versions that include real cannon fire.
Because - for those who don't know - the original score calls for, at the finale, the sound of cannon explosions!
In theaters, a bass drum is used (of course!), but in some outdoor performances and in a number of records (taking advantage of the possibilities offered by recording technology), real cannons are used!
And, do you think there exists an audiophile who can resist the idea of firing cannon shots in their living room?
So everyone searches for versions of the "overture" with cannons... (like the edition conducted by Rubenstein)...
And then there are hearty laughs when the speakers you care about more than your own children, pumped by amplifiers that cost as much as luxury cars (and sometimes deliver around 7-8 watts...), ruffle the hair of the friends you told: "come hear what my stereo is capable of..."
