Ameer Vann - EMMANUEL (Full EP)
(with my utmost pleasure) Ameer Vann is back, the former member of BROCKHAMPTON, who was kicked out at the beginning of 2018 following allegations of abuse by his ex-partners.
Personally, I always tend to separate the man from the artist, and Ameer was my favorite in the "boyband," so I was saddened when he was removed. Coincidentally, the quality of the subsequent BH albums without him has dropped quite a bit. Neither "Iridescence" nor the recent "Ginger" excited me at all.
I like this EP, which straddles trap and hardcore, with prominent bass and autobiographical bars where he obviously talks about feeling broken and mortified for what happened to him… not to mention that he’s currently being brutalized; the "cancel culture" shows no mercy.
"It's so hard to say, "I'm sorry", It's so hard to self reflect, Make the world a better place, I put a bullet in my head, I'm still running outta friends, steady running from the past..."
