Orange County Suite - Jim Morrison
If we hadn’t found the tape, discovered among his belongings, with “Jomo and The Smoothies” handwritten on it, it might all be a legend and no one would have believed the few “witnesses.” In mid-June '71, just days before the End, outside the Cafe des Flores, a famous hangout for alternative Paris, two typical American hippies, half high, were "playing" guitar under the scorching sun, asking for a bit of dineiro. It is said that no one paid them any attention, as they were so pathetic, until a gentleman stood up, began applauding the two guys (even more dazed), and invited them to sit at his table and have a few beers with him... “I’m American too and I feel like playing a little... if you take me nearby, there’s a recording studio, I’ll pay for you and for your work, I want to sing a bit”...
“I’ll sing a blues I wrote, a completely normal blues, accompany me as you can”...
And so, after that wildly improvised Jam to say the least, the two boys pocketed the francs promised by that bearded stranger who was swaying away... not knowing, at that moment, that they had been the last to “play” with James Douglas Morrison...
