What's My Name | Muhammad Ali (2019) | Official Trailer | HBO
I never thought anyone could summarize the life/career of the “greatest” so well. After so many books and documentaries, here it was managed in about three hours to synthesize everything with great skill. A splendid film/documentary featuring pieces from many matches, the pre-fight moments, training sessions, interviews. Not only of Ali but also of his most famous rivals: Liston, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, incredible gems. There were various things I had never seen or didn’t remember.
Everything reconstructed in a truly splendid manner with Ali’s words providing an impeccable backdrop.
As a boxer, I remain impressed each time not just by the sublime class and unique talent but by the determination and psychophysical strength he showed during the toughest times, when everyone said he was finished... and yet it was precisely in those situations that he knew how to bring out the best in himself. And then... the man who transcends sports and boxing, who did things that no other famous athlete has ever dreamed of even thinking about... Africa, religion, the rights of peoples... passion, heart, and soul. Truly beautiful.
I’ve already written about him with all the enthusiasm I had at that moment, and I won’t stress you further.
But this really deserves it.
