Let's call them "Affinities," though perhaps I've never been so far from reality. Anyway, instinctively, I feel like recommending you this dark gem of U.S. Underground Folk. I believe it falls within the Christian Folk genre. Once you manage to dive into its intricacies, which indeed do little to attract attention, it's a noteworthy product.
