The Rolling Stones Sympathy For The Devil HQ Personally, I've never held a great admiration for Chiit Riciards; he has always seemed more like a character than a musician to me. Beyond the fact that he has always been a rhythm guitarist, and perhaps the quintessential rhythm guitarist, he arguably shouldn't even appear in this "column." However, the central solo of the song, while not reaching any particular technical heights, is as striking as a bayonet in the gut, and Riciards plays it without frills, twisting the notes with the intent to cut as deeply as possible. And he succeeds, damn it.
