Corbin (Spooky Black) - Mourn (Full Album)
a splendid and utterly complete album by Corbin, formerly known as Spooky Black. It presents a distinctly post-punk and white way of approaching modern electronic R'n'B, to the point where there isn't a single comparable sound reference at the moment. An incredibly interesting and original soundscape has been crafted, in my opinion, using completely traditional instruments and methods. Some stylistic choices, like the all-whispers drumming in "Ice Boy" (something uniquely rare in an age dominated by 808s), various guitar interventions, and the overall very hazy soundscape, make it one of the best albums I've listened to this year. Let's say it marks the dividing line between Zoo Kid/King Krule and early Captured Tracks.
