10 Magnificent Losers. 10 Stories That Should Be Told. 3) Glen Matlock GLEN MATLOCK (Sex Pistols) "God Save The Queen" solo acoustic 10/14/12 Hamilton, ON

His biggest flaw was that he could actually play (and had even studied for it). He didn't realize that he and the other two (hands up who remembers their names just like that) had been put there just to be extras. He really believed it; he truly thought that EMI would make the Sex Pistols the new Rolling Stones!
It doesn’t matter that he wrote the best songs, it doesn’t matter that he played them on the record even though he was no longer in the band, it doesn’t matter that he was the only one who could actually play: in the collective imagination, the Pistols are Rotten and Vicious.
Cook and Jones didn’t care; they were used to being extras. He didn’t, though. He left, slamming the door. He wanted to be a real musician. He tried, yes he did (Midge Ure even sang in Rich Kids).
He ended up singing an acoustic version of "God Save The Queen" (sic) in small clubs…
