The Doors "end of the night"
"Jim Morrison & the Doors on the road" (7)
Like "The Crystal Ship," this demonstrates Jim's ability to deliver dark and melancholic ballads and the vastness of his literary references. Here, L.F. Céline is referenced (he alone deserves a chapter!) in his "Journey to the End of the Night." The haunting slide guitar parts from Robby are formidable. Originating from the "Venice notebooks" period, the track was part of the first pre-Doors demo. "Of all the people I met, (Jim) was the one whose range of interests and understanding was the broadest." Bill Siddons (who entered as a roadie at eighteen and a year later became their manager!)
