Someone I played Ornello's hilarious and brilliant album for dismissed it as a brainless copy of Vasco Rossi. Hmm... The lyrics of Vasco Rossi are brainless (when will we get rid of him?). Check out Zalone's massive parody, someone with a bit more brains and cultural sense than the Italian Vasco (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmM3zWBCVyQ). Ok... so, having set the record straight... Ornello, if not listened to superficially (as "journalists" hipster music critics often do), is, as he himself says, surreal!!! Not brainless. Was Rino Gaetano brainless? Was Jannacci brainless?? There you go. With due respect to Gaetano and Jannacci, Ornello, with his style of singing somewhere between laid-back and playful, with ears full of 80s sounds mixing trash synth pop and serious stuff, gives us 11 songs that could easily be played on one of the big radio stations (the networkssssss) if they weren't too busy waiting for the "farts" of the usual suspects (Ligabue, Blasco, and the rest of the entertainers from the retirement home).
