James White and The Blacks

James White and The Blacks was the funk-leaning project of James Chance (born James Siegfried), a central figure of New York’s No Wave scene. Mixing abrasive no wave with funk and jazz, the group is best known for Off White (1979) and Sax Maniac (1982).
