American jazz guitarist and singer from Pittsburgh, active since the 1960s. Rose from organ-combo roots to CTI acclaim, then crossed over with Breezin' (1976) and Give Me the Night (1980, produced by Quincy Jones). Famous for scatting in unison with his guitar solos.
