LA RECENSIONE

The Omega Flare present themselves with a product that is not at all haphazard, as one might expect from a debuting band, but rather packaged with class and professionalism, starting from the artwork, perfectly in tune with the "industrial" atmosphere evoked by their sound.

The production is very balanced in giving each instrument and voice the right prominence. In this first EP, the individual musicians' technical execution is already at excellent levels, suitable for the genre chosen by these young Bolognese to make their mark in the world of modern metal: decidedly heavy prog in the guitar parts, seasoned with keyboard evolutions that are sometimes classical, but more often take on techno-industrial tones; the rhythm section is precise and effective with appreciable tempo changes; the voice is still a bit raw but angry in just the right way, often allowing for compelling melodic openers.

The least convincing part, probably functional to the themes of the lyrics, is the one reserved for the death sound: I'm referring to the "effected" growling which, in my opinion, would have been perfect without computerized filters. On the other hand, the inclusion of the female voice in "Grey", which nods to the successful gothic of bands like Nightwish, is spot on.

Given these premises, we await with confidence, the next full-length, hoping to see them live, perhaps as openers for one of the renowned and acclaimed bands that occasionally visit us from the Scandinavian lands, with whom the young Bolognese can compete in skill and originality.

Summary by Bot

Omega Flare's debut EP 'A Clockwarp Machinery' showcases a professional and well-produced industrial progressive metal sound. The band balances heavy guitars with techno-industrial keyboards and precise rhythm work. Vocals remain raw but fitting, with standout female contributions reminiscent of Nightwish. While some death growling effects feel overly processed, the overall musicianship and originality promise a bright future.
