“On the fourth anniversary of the birth of vaporwave, we are delighted to inform you that vaporwave is, at last, dead.
Welcome to the new era.”
Thus the Dream Catalogue, a label whose programmatic manifesto is installing dreams into your brain, describes one of the numerous albums released under its aegis.
Among these, at the beginning of 2015, appears the second album (the first available for free download here) of the mysterious duo 2814: a dark collaboration born in London between such Hong Kong Express and Telepathテレパシー能力者.
In the 68 minutes in question, 2814 transcends the vaporwave scenario, of which their label has announced the death; always assuming it can be considered vaporwave. There is no trace of the '80s aesthetic, dissolved in a dimension out of time. Post-vaporwave?
Phlegmatic and imaginative ambient, psychedelia of the future. A totalizing experience as rarely happens. More than the soundtrack of a dream, it is the dream itself.
"新しい日の誕生" is the sound journey of the soul of the protagonist of Enter The Void floating post-mortem over Tokyo.
A continuous flow that annihilates and renders vain any further attempt to explain it with additional words.
The birth of a new day.

I have always been struck by how some of its offshoots are capable of hypnotizing, anesthetizing the mind and transporting it to other worlds.
Let yourself be transported to a Tokyo illuminated by the cold and subdued light of neon, or perhaps to another futuristic megalopolis.
