Third album from the band from Manchester, third major success that won't be repeated. In August 1997, the group of rebellious and charismatic Mancunian boys released their new work after the worldwide success "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?" from '95. We are presented with a pleasant and listenable record, with more than one beautiful Oasis-style song but also something new, experimental. An unmistakable style, chords, sounds, musicality, voices (both Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel) expressed at their highest levels, lyrics that blend Noel's ability to write authentic gems without complex language and "pills" of high-level music that make "Be Here Now" an unbeatable LP to have and cherish dearly.
The album opens with "D'You Know What I Mean?", a hard, psychedelic, noisy track and one of the most successful in the product. "My Big Mouth" and "Magic Pie" are two songs with a high vocal tone, first from Liam and then from Noel, spine-tingling rock songs, the vocal skills of the two brothers have no rivals, and in these two tracks, the sound qualities are at their peak. With "Stand By Me," we return to the unmatched style of Oasis, a calm and relaxing track, the sensuality with which Liam performs the song is amazing. "Fade In Out" is a psychedelic track, an intense rock that differentiates this song from the others, also for the presence of the American actor Johnny Depp on the "slide guitar." Ladies and gentlemen, a big round of applause for the beautiful "Don't Go Away," dedicated to all the mothers of the band members, particularly to the guitarist Bonehead's, the latter who passed away during the album's recording. A minute of silence for the artist's mother...
Okay, after the minute dedicated to the lady, let's resume with this damn review. As I was saying, "Don't Go Away" is a kind of second "Wonderwall," calm, romantic, the electric guitar riff gently and softly accompanies the song. "Be Here Now," a song that takes the album's name, has cheerful, happy, and very harmonious lyrics. "All Around The World," which begins with a calm and relaxing rhythm, accompanied by the acoustic guitar, is one of the most successful gems of this album, which ends with "It's Gettin' Better (Man!!)," having a hard but effective sound. Songs without predefined rules (many last over seven minutes) that aren't built to sell the product but to enjoy it. Indescribable pleasure in listening to an album with such perfection, both textual and musical. An album that will achieve great sales but will be snubbed by both critics and Noel Gallagher himself.
Tracklist:
This is a great album: full of energy, rock in its purest form.
In my very personal opinion, this is the most beautiful song by Oasis.
Surely this is one of the worst CDs by Oasis, on the eve of its release there was great anticipation surrounding it, and it disappointed fans.
"Don’t Go Away" is a very, very beautiful and captivating piece as worthy as "Stand by Me" from the first two CDs.
The first hint of diarrhea was birthed with “Be Here Now”: a gonad-breaking dirge that lasts eleven tracks plus the ending of “All Around The World” as a hidden track.
You just feel like sticking a hand in Liam Gallagher’s mouth and ripping out his tonsils because of how disgusting his desperate housewife voice is.
All the works by Oasis, even if criticized to no end (even by Noel himself), have something to say.
It really seems like a CD to put in the car while driving who-knows-where and with who-knows-what thoughts in your head.
Oasis seem to be a copy of themselves and seem unable to get up from the abyss into which they have fallen.
'All around the world' is the masterpiece of the album, with a driving rhythm and an almost worthy finale of 'Champagne Supernova'.
