American rock band formed by Grant Hart after Hüsker Dü; released the concept album The Last Days of Pompeii and the self-titled Nova Mob album.

Formed in 1989 by Grant Hart (post-Hüsker Dü). Released the EP Admiral of the Sea and the concept album The Last Days of Pompeii (criticised for production in original release; reissued in 2012 with a remix, alternate versions and new cover). Later released the self-titled Nova Mob album noted for direct pop songwriting. Reviews praise Hart's voice and melodies; internal vicissitudes and limited commercial success ended the project.

Two DeBaser reviews by Kism examine Nova Mob's concept and pop albums. Hart's voice and songwriting receive consistent praise, production is criticized on the concept LP, and the later self-titled album is highlighted for strong melodies.

For:Fans of Grant Hart, Hüsker Dü alumni, listeners of alternative rock and power pop, collectors of late-80s/90s indie rock.

In 1989, Grant Hart, once having released the debut album "Intolerance," formed a new band, Nova Mob, named after a character in William S. Burroughs' book Nova Express.
