My first "review" concerns the latest album released (2009) by the English band Noah and the Whale.

Here is a well-crafted album, fresh and genuine, I especially recommend it for those who are down in the dumps or a bit depressed, the record starts and all the songs hit you right in the heart, both with sweetness like the finale "My Door Is Always Open" with its moving chorus that gets into your head and never leaves, and with aggression like "My Broken Heart", which contains a liberating, raw, distorted electric guitar solo... almost excruciating.

It’s not one of the usual whiny indie-pop albums with slow music for those who easily shed a tear like the style of the latest Kings of Convenience, on the contrary, especially from the lyrics, it’s clear there is a serious desire to take life back into one's hands and start getting busy after a failure or disappointment (perhaps referring to the departure of singer Laura Marling after the first album).

There isn't a boring or superfluous track, not even the two instrumental ones before and after the encouraging "Love of an Orchestra" which, in my opinion, are among the best along with the already mentioned "My Broken Heart" and "Blue Skies", everything flows perfectly, several tracks are similar but without being repetitive.

Well, that's it, the fact is there's little to say, and my knowledge is too limited regarding music from the last 20-30 (but let's say even 40) years to make comparisons.
