THE REVIEW

With this album, No Doubt became very commercialized and known to the majority of the public, unfortunately already in decline with Gwen Stefani having solo dreams. It's definitely better than "Tragic Kingdom", but this album, released in 2001 (Interscope Records), consists of 13 tracks. Singles like "Hey Baby" were much more instrumentalized by MTV than for their melody; "Making out" and "Underneath it All" are much more melodic and less musically destructive, with different tones and Gwen much more radiant. For example, the lesser-known "Start The Fire" and "Running" are much more rock, and the last track of the album, "Rock Steady", is perhaps the best. It could have been better, but you can see that they were in musical decline. I recommend purchasing it only if you find it on sale! !!!

Summary by Bot

No Doubt's 2001 album Rock Steady shows the band reaching mainstream commercial success but hints at a musical decline. While singles like 'Hey Baby' were heavily promoted through MTV, more melodic and rock-oriented tracks such as 'Start The Fire' and 'Rock Steady' stand out. Gwen Stefani's solo ambitions foreshadowed the band's changing trajectory. Recommended only if found at a discount.

No Doubt

No Doubt are an American band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986. Blending ska, punk, new wave and pop, they broke through globally with Tragic Kingdom and the hit “Don’t Speak,” followed by Return of Saturn and Rock Steady. After hiatuses and Gwen Stefani’s solo success, the band returned with Push And Shove in 2012 and reunited for high-profile performances in 2024.
