We all do a little harm to ourselves. Eunice is a significant figure in the history of music and the fight against segregation, but she is also a woman deeply troubled.

She is someone who hurts herself and others. Tough, in any case, who has lived with the heavy burden of a harsh world on her hard skin.

Her tormented tone and her ability on the piano led her to her thirteenth album at only 30 years old.

Silk & Soul contains some very famous standards, such as The Look Of Love (made famous by Springfield the same year and featured in the soundtrack of Casino Royale) and I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free (a civil rights anthem that the performer gave prominence to over the years).

Written personally by Simone is the last track Consummation, desperate and longing for love. A record that encourages the listener not to be overwhelmed by insults and misfortunes of any kind, but also contains a certain reflection on the solitude of those who seem surrounded only by shadows.

Go To Hell was even presented at the Grammys, though it did not win any awards. The arrangements by Sammy Lowe and bassist Gene Taylor deserve praise.

Despite divorces and bipolarism, the career of the woman with the fake surname was soaring. Unfortunately, a career is not what you carry on your shoulders when you come home to your children.
