Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... Yet unfortunately unknown to most.
Indeed, very few know about the illegitimate son of Mick Jagger, Greg Alexander. He is a strange type: first an illustrious nobody, then a shooting star appreciated by both the public and critics, and finally, a successful producer, capable of reviving declining careers.
This album is the only one produced by the New Radicals, a band that broke up right after the album's release, but it surely remains a masterpiece: amidst falsettos pushing the limits of human possibility, headache-inducing vocal overdubs, and purely seventies guitars, twelve fabulous songs emerge.
Many of you will remember "You Get What You Give," the first and very successful single, and "Someday We'll Know," a nostalgic ballad that became the second track released from the album, but this record contains many other noteworthy songs, from "I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away the Ending" and "I Don't Wanna Die Anymore" to "Crying Like a Church On Monday."
Fantastic this CD, to listen to in one go and discover something new. To give you an idea, I would like to make comparisons, but the only things that come to mind are the more ironic songs of Jeff Buckley. A meteor that still shines...
