THE REVIEW

The third album of the group is definitely worth a listen; the rhythm of the album is not hectic, on the contrary, it is calm, and some songs also make room for reflection. On the other hand, some songs don't have a deep meaning but are fun and catchy.

The more upbeat songs are few: "Sex", "I miei limiti" and the last ones, but despite this, the album is not boring. In my opinion, the best songs are "Ho imparato a sognare" with Pau on harmonica, "Lasciami dormire" sung by the guitarist, and the title track: "XXX".

Although the group is Italian, they have not created a monotonous album that only gives space to the singer, as often happens, but they have been able to harmonize the instruments and the voice.

"XXX" opens with "Bong", a short introduction that leads us to the first real song: a simple rhythm that accompanies Pau while he sings about those who live their life as spectators; perfect for being carried into the third song, as the atmosphere remains calm and relaxed.

The riff of "Sex" captures attention, especially after the calm that the previous songs created. The CD's pace picks up again with the next song, which is beautiful not so much for the lyrics that aren't demanding but for the music. A song between "Per quello che dai" and "Ma come fanno" as if to connect these two, with a minute and a half of acoustic guitar as that calm air returns for the reflective song that follows.

Pau breaks that calmness by starting "I miei limiti" a cappella. The song is short, the track has only two verses that contradict each other and ends with a solo that is not complicated but not boring. The title track aims to denounce the most common prejudices people have about a nonconformist boy.

"Ho imparato a sognare" stands out from the other songs, perhaps because of the beginning with the sound of the harmonica. It's the song that, in my opinion, is worth the album: a beautiful musical background to a track that makes the importance of having dreams and motivation to move forward today clear.

"Era magico" reminds me of the beginning of "Anarchy in The USA" the song turns out more lively; it talks about the carefree nature of adolescence. The cheerful atmosphere remains with the next two songs, the second of which suggests from the title that it doesn't want to be deep at all "Io Pocahontas me la farei".

A very beautiful song sung and played by the guitarist closes the album: "Lasciami dormire". The album aims to close with a veil of melancholy that lasts 5 minutes.

The beautiful compositions of Negrita were the first, like "Reset", and this album proves it.

The genuineness is probably the greatest virtue of this 1997 album by Negrita.

'Ho imparato a sognare' is a very evocative ballad in which singer Pau plays the harmonica, enhancing its melancholic atmosphere.
