Nausea was a New York crust/hardcore band formed in 1985 and disbanded in 1992. Key releases include the 1990 LP Extinction and the posthumous anthologies released in 2004. Line-up and contributors mentioned in reviews include founder Amy Miret, second vocalist Al Long, drummer Roy Mayorga and bassist John John Jesse.

Roy Mayorga later played with bands such as Soulfly, Sepultura and Stone Sour and participated in the Amebix reunion. John John Jesse is noted as an illustrator and designer of punk-related artwork. The band's lyrics addressed Cold War/nuclear themes and early concerns about overpowering technology; their sound mixed crust, D-beats and slower sludge/doom passages.

DeBaser's lone review praises Nausea's 2004 anthology for showcasing the band's crust/hardcore experimentation. The review highlights Extinction (1990) and the band's move toward slower, sludge- and doom-tinged passages alongside classic D-beats. Key members mentioned include Amy Miret, Al Long, Roy Mayorga and John John Jesse.

For:Fans of crust punk, hardcore punk, sludge and doom-influenced punk; listeners interested in the late-80s New York punk scene.

The New York of the second half of the '80s was a factory of very hard bands, often devoted to that fusion of hardcore punk and thrash metal called crust punk: among others, we can mention Agnostic Front, Madball, Sick Of It All, later on the phenomenal Biohazard (although dedicated to crossover), and of course the band in question, the lesser-known Nausea.
