Some people reading this review will surely turn up their noses:
"Metal is a serious thing! I am a defender! How can someone appreciate Nanowar?"

And yet (if we overlook a somewhat amateurish and deficient production) "Triumph Of True Metal Of Steel" (a title that already says a lot...) is definitely worthwhile and worth listening to.

We can divide the album into two parts (leaving aside the ridiculous intro): the first contains totally new pieces written by the group, which satirize the world of epic metal and its "hardcore" fans: the defenders. The tracks are played very well and are typically epic, hard and heavy, while as for the lyrics... the titles say it all: True Metal Of Steel, Metal, The True Forest Of The Only True Metal And The Other Heavy Minerals, Our Metal Is So Strong Cos Our Dick Is So Long and finally Poser.

The second part of the album, however (much weaker than the first) is made up of "customized" covers: Master Of Pizza (based on Master Of Puppets by Metallica), Emereld Fork (from Emerald Sword by Rhapsody) and finally a delirious Vai Gatto Panceri, which sounds like it was sung by a group of Italians on a trip to Oktoberfest.

In short... if you are looking for fun and well-played epic metal, Nanowar is for you. A band definitely not to be underestimated!
