THE REVIEW

Origin of Symmetry is the second studio album by the British musical group Muse, released on July 17, 2001 by Mushroom Records.

The album starts off strong with one of Muse's most beautiful songs, "New Born," an exceptional song that begins with a goosebump-inducing piano arrangement. The next two songs, like the first, are preceded by a piano arrangement (the one in "Space Dementia" is beautiful, a song with a truly original lyric referring to a particular form of dementia). Majestic is the riff of "Plug in Baby," and "Hyper Music" is also nice. The album concludes with a cover truly with a capital C of "Feeling Good" and with a truly unique track that differs from the rest of the album's songs, "Megalomania" (this track also refers to a particular syndrome), perfect for concluding an album.

Surely, Origin of Symmetry is Muse's most successful album and the one that established them as the successors of Radiohead on the throne of British and non-British Alternative Rock. The album flows well, is beautiful and light to listen to, and contains few fillers. Bellamy's piano parts stand out, as does the use of other unusual instruments and a wide variety of effects (difficult for a group of only three members). For anyone looking for an approach to the world of Alternative, Origin of Symmetry is definitely an album to listen to.

Everything starts slowly and then explodes; you drowse only to scream; dreams are told that turn into nightmares.

The Muse might still be a bit too chaotic and baroque for my tastes, but this CD is truly beautiful.

I can’t understand how a human mind could conceive such a piece of work. Simply astonishing.

'Origin Of Symmetry' is nothing short of spectacular, a journey into a strange and sick world.
