American hard-rock band formed in 1969, led by guitarist-vocalist Leslie West with Felix Pappalardi on bass/production. Known for the 1970 hit "Mississippi Queen" and early-1970s albums blending blues and hard rock; performed at Woodstock.

Felix Pappalardi served as producer for Cream and later played bass for Mountain; he was killed in 1983 (as reported in reviews). Leslie West is consistently cited as the band's lead guitarist and vocalist. The band participated in Woodstock and released the debut album Climbing! in 1970.

DeBaser reviewers praise Mountain's early-1970s hard-rock rooted in blues, highlighting Leslie West's powerful voice and guitar and Felix Pappalardi's bass/production. Key albums discussed are Climbing!, Nantucket Sleighride and Flowers Of Evil, plus the live Twin Peaks. 'Mississippi Queen' is repeatedly cited as their signature track.

For:Fans of classic hard rock and blues-rock; listeners who enjoy guitar-driven 1970s rock and live improvisation.

Such a response is evident in the Open Track, "Mississippi Queen", one of the historical classics of Hard Rock, where almost all the previously mentioned characteristics emerge.
