Here, it's already late autumn; last Wednesday I stepped onto the first snow of the season at 2313 meters on the San Giacomo Pass, on the border between Italy and Switzerland. And I thought of Norway and the debut, way back in 1991, of Motorpsycho.

Ghiaccio Bollente: the best and most concise definition to describe "Lobotomizer."

A very heavy work, with a not excellent, raw and oppressive production. Little money and little time available to record it in Oslo in chilly December of 1990.

Proto-Stoner, Noise, lashes that push towards Hardcore; right from the start emerges a psychedelic taste that they would develop very well in the subsequent masterpiece of 1993, that "Demon Box" said by many to be the album that still stands sovereign at the peak of their extensive production.

Out of sync, out of control in almost every moment of the eight tracks; except for the clear and serene Folk minute of the title track that initiates the subsequent scorching flashes of the remaining tracks. The dissonant lash of "Grinder" supported by Bent's hallucinated screams; the apocalyptic eight minutes of "Hogwash" Hard-Blues benefiting from the presence of a Hammond, adding a fascinating and unhealthy seventies touch to this powerful ride. The few raw, turbulent, and Punk minutes of "Frances" (it feels like facing the monumental Soundgarden of the first two albums); the Hard-Rock-Acid catharsis of the concluding "TFC". Twelve icy and noisy minutes beyond all limits, to be listened to at an ever-increasing volume: impressive dark majesty.

Cover image that suits well the listening experience of the work.

A fundamental passage to understand the infinite evolution of Motorpsycho.

"The sounds of Lobotomizer are awful, but there is already a remarkable attitude. Listening to it now is not very pleasant, we were so naive and inexperienced but very determined to move forward" (Quote Bent).

Lean on me won't you,
trust me for a while
she said "I think I'm cured now"
I touched her nimble fingers
she was shaking like a leaf
I suppose she got what she needed
a kid that wouldn't listen
a kid that had no fear
a woman that doesn't care....
Lean on me,
won't you trust me for a while
her eyes shone like crazy emeralds
now the madness is gone
now the halo is gone
no duckling turned to swan
no freedom won
American Dream dream on
Lobotomy gets 'em home......

The sound is raw, and the singer’s shrill and acidic voice sometimes clashes with the rest of the band.

All in all, it’s enjoyable to listen to, particularly track number 3, Hogwash, and the pop-punk Frances.
