The explosive power of Swedish death metal (the "usual suspects": In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Children of Bodom, Soilwork...) combined with that melancholic mood that only bands from the land of a thousand lakes (Sentenced and Amorphis in primis) possess... this is what you will find in "Inhumanity", the explosive debut of M.P.E: after this album, the Finnish band will decide to focus more on the electronic side of their music, and, with some line-up changes, will start a sort of downward spiral culminating in the bland "Liberation = Termination" of 2007, but that does not take away from the fact that this debut album is a masterpiece in its genre, well represented by iconic songs like "Eternity's Child" or the title track, not to mention the melancholy of the closing track "Into Illusion", where the excellent growling of vocalist Ville Viljanen is accompanied by the more anguished voice of guitarist and mastermind Jori Haukio.
A must-have album for lovers of melodic death: the ideal combination of the most classic Gothenburg sound and the more modern side of Swedish death metal, wrapped in a 100% Made in Finland charm!
