THE REVIEW

Let's be clear right away: this album didn't have much success.

Quite the opposite. Let's just say it 'flopped' quite a bit both among the old guard of Teutonic fans and in terms of sales. Okay, you might say, so then why the hell are you giving us a review precisely on "Feel Sorry For The Fanatic"? Because I personally kind of like it... erm... not a good reason, right? So let's say that with this album, Morgoth definitely changed their sound, abandoning classic death metal to venture into industrial/metal territory which... doesn't really catch your interest, huh? And then... I've got it! I'm reviewing it because I like the cover, alright?

And despite the title, the songs all seem painted with a shade of gray-melancholy that permeates the entire CD. There are good tracks ("This Fantastic Decade", "Curiosity") and a couple of tracks that are just fillers, but I remember that in '96 when everyone expected a carbon copy of "Cursed" or "Odium", this third release by the German band left everyone bewildered. Perhaps even them, as they eventually disbanded.

But I think of the metalhead follower of Autopsy and Vader listening to "Cash..." waiting for an acceleration or a series of growls (that will never come) and instead, in the end, gets the intricate techno-based "...And Its Amazing Consequences".

I can only imagine their face... well, maybe the cover does have a meaning...
