THE REVIEW

Good evening everyone, before proceeding with my review I wanted to introduce myself since I'm new to the site: I'm ChaosA.D.

Having fulfilled this task, someone might consider it useless but I believe that introducing oneself to those we don't know is necessary, let's move on to the work I want to propose to you (better re-propose you, since there is already a review) today, namely "Heretic" by Morbid Angel.

For those who are not familiar with the group, I will start by saying that they offer a classic death metal, some even define it as brutal, but I disagree, characterized by furious blast-beats (very fast drum patterns derived from jazz), chaotic guitar solos and guttural vocals. The album in question does not escape these stylistic features, in fact, right from the start we are completely overwhelmed by the assault of the German panzer known as "Cleansed In Pestilence (Blade Of Elohim)", closely followed by the splendid and "almost" catchy (a term to be taken with a grain of salt, after all, death is certainly not famous for being so easy-listening) "Enshrined By Grace".

Without wanting to bore you with a tedious track-by-track, I wanted to conclude by pointing out a couple of episodes that make the album very appealing, namely "Stricken Arise" and "Drum Check", the latter is a heart-pounding drum solo where Pete "Commando" Sandoval seems to almost simulate an anti-aircraft attack.

In conclusion, this is a work that will greatly please fans of the Californian band and also extreme metal enthusiasts, as violence is certainly not lacking and creativity is well present, therefore my advice is to give it a good listen, maybe you'll like it.

P.S. The only flaw: when you insert the CD in your player it shows 44 tracks, something a bit nonsensical for me since the majority don't contain music but only silence.

This album deserves a passing grade but nothing more.

Without the logo, this CD would have been a failure.
