Molly Hatchet are back !!

Well, yes, practically after five years of absence from the music stores, except for compilations and live albums, here's finally the new original album by Molly Hatchet, a band deeply and forcibly revamped in terms of lineup but still capable of delivering fiery performances with their absolutely unique and unmistakable Heavy Southern Rock.

This freshly released Justice brings back a band in excellent shape and delivers an album worthy of the now ancient and excellent Devil's Canyon and Flirtin with Disaster, although inevitably opinions on the matter and comparisons with the past often create mixed feelings and judgments.

Been to Heaven Been to Hell and Safe in My Skin open the dance and we immediately find the powerful and overwhelming riffs of the Ingram-Hlubek duo in great shape, as well as impeccable are the keyboard contributions of the excellent John Galvin, all enriched by the rough and raspy voice of Phil McCormack to pay more than a worthy tribute to the late Danny Joe Brown.

The album continues alternating powerful and fast tracks enriched by excellent guitars and keyboards creating musical plots and always engaging solos, with more melodic and measured pieces but overall the work flows in a decidedly pleasant way with peaks of excellence in my opinion in the two initial tracks, in American Pride, the most purely Southern Rock track of the album, and in the long and concluding Justice, with a long and thrilling solo reminding us of other illustrious examples of this type of compositions in the Southern Rock scene.

Probably as a whole, the more specifically Southern vein and sound have been lost in favor of heavier and almost heavy arrangements, but on the other hand, this is the musical characteristic that Molly Hatchet have undertaken since the second album, remaining in any case among the most loved bands of the entire Southern Rock movement.

In closing, I can certainly say that this new album is definitely an excellent work for the fans of the Jacksonville band, certainly not the best but an absolutely interesting and pleasant album marking a return as anticipated by the fans as convincing, and it must be acknowledged in any case to the band for overcoming, like many others in this tormented musical movement, numerous adversities and continued to keep the flag of Southern Rock flying with so much passion and dignity.
