The second studio effort by the Danish band Mnemic is one of the freshest works I've had the chance to listen to recently.
Released in October 2004, "The Audio Injected Soul" draws heavily from Fear Factory, the latest In Flames, and Spineshank; if you love these bands, Mnemic will absolutely not disappoint you.
Their product flows wonderfully and features truly remarkable tracks in the first part of the CD: "Dreamstate Emergency", "Door 2.12", and "Illuminate" will surely bring joy to many of you by perfectly combining electronics, thrash-inspired assaults, and pleasantly melodic openings. The award for the hardest track definitely goes to "Deathbox", a song with a strong impact like I haven't heard in a long time. The rest of the album flows nicely thanks to its power, technique, and excellent production. The ten tracks present are certainly all very similar and maybe lose some brilliance towards the end, but Mnemic's youth is on their side and from this record, one can only foresee a great future.
The only real downside is the cover of "Wild Boys" by Duran Duran wisely placed at the end of the CD; it's quite predictable, and personally, I'm a bit tired of all this gratuitous '80s revival reinterpreted in a metal style... but it's forgivable.
Nonetheless, I recommend listening to this positive work and remembering the name Mnemic for the future, as they might offer more pleasant surprises.
