Michael Powell

Musical Group or Musician

Michael Powell (1905–1990) was an English film director, known for his collaborations with Emeric Pressburger and for films such as The Red Shoes and Peeping Tom.

Peeping Tom (1960) was controversial on release and later reappraised by filmmakers and critics; Powell directed a number of widely praised films including The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus.

DeBaser hosts a small set of reviews linking Michael Powell's films (notably Peeping Tom) with several Italian new wave album pages. Peeping Tom is described as a daring, controversial masterpiece of voyeuristic cinema. The Underground Life albums Filosofia dell'aria and Questo soave sabba are presented as important Italian new wave works produced with Alberto Radius. Overall the reviews are appreciative and recommend listening/viewing.

For:Fans of classic British cinema, cult films, and readers interested in Italian new wave music.

Despite the name more likely recalling an English band, Underground Life are one of the most influential Italian rock groups of the '80s led by singer and author Giancarlo Onorato, already a musician, painter, and writer, as well as the founder of the band, born in Monza in 1979.
