Not content with their growing "poverty", the band once known as MetallicA (now called Lars Ulrich & Bob Rock Management Inc.) thought it would be a good idea to include a DVD in the European version of the lousy album from which it takes its name.
I told myself, "the CD was a pain, with this DVD at least I'll see something". Well, my dear angry saints, as usual, you failed in your attempt and wasted effort producing a DVD that's worse than the disc.
A total pain, starting with the "furnishing" of the recording room: every wall is covered with at least thirty posters, apparent disorder, and at least five tons of useless junk (among which is a 3D model of the goddess of justice), amidst cables and 15W amplifiers. With this attitude, they surely tried to make their studio look as "lived-in" as possible, but they forgot that we know the last time they used it was in 1996 for Load, since Reload was nothing more than a compilation of Load's leftovers.
As I said before, it was torture for me to watch it all, from the first scene it's clear they are not convinced. James shows off a new look complete with a mustache very reminiscent of Uncle Lemmy's, and he is the biggest clown, trying to cheer everyone up by acting silly and spouting nonsense into the microphone.
Ulrich is much more chaotic than usual and just keeps pounding on that damn lowered snare, which he is so proud of. Trujillo is the usual gorilla who gets excited about doing nothing and plays the buddy with Lars. Hammett is the only one who "saves" himself: his face is perpetually disgusted (especially during the backing vocals and when he bangs the guitar in "All Within My Hands") throughout the DVD: he's probably the only one of the four who understands where they are heading.
We've known for a while.
"...and justice for all."
