THE REVIEW

A preface is necessary before reviewing "...And Justice For All": the Metallica had already said everything they had to say in the previous three albums (untouchable, I think they go beyond 5 stars); they had founded thrash in "Kill 'Em All", with strong influences in sound from the great Motorhead; and then they institutionalized heavy metal by blending thrash and speed (this in "Ride The Lightning" and "Master Of Puppets"). After the death of Cliff Burton, and with Jason Newsted joining the group (much colder than Cliff), the 'tallica seem to have lost a bit of inspiration. The album catapults them to the top of global charts, even on MTV.

It is impeccable from a musical standpoint, played to perfection. But unfortunately, musically it is so perfect and superficial, that it says little to nothing on a communicative level. Too long, some songs are real drags to digest ("Harvester of Sorrow" and "The Frayed Ends Of Sanity" among them). Even James Hetfield will admit that this album is a notch below in comparison to the previous ones.

Nevertheless, it remains a great album, the 4-star rating is assured. The best tracks are: "Blackened", a high-tension debut modeled on "Battery" (from Master of Puppets); the splendid ballad "One"; the perfect heavy metal of "Shortest Straw"; the very sad "To Live Is To Die", in memory of the great Cliff Burton who died in an accident in 1986, with a somewhat classical taste where Ulrich dominates orchestrating everything to perfection. It seems to nail you still and amazed in front of nothingness. And finally the last: "Dyers Eve", according to the reviewer the best on the CD, supersonic speed, devastating in the riffs, and plus James dejected at the microphone. Unfortunately, it has already been forgotten.

A good album to get closer to the Metallica sound, but here's a tip: "Kill 'Em All", "Ride The Lightning", "Master of Puppets", THOSE ARE ALBUMS THAT REALLY KICK ASS!!!!!

Summary by Bot

This review examines Metallica's '...And Justice For All' as a technically flawless but emotionally distant album. While it catapulted the band to global success, it lacks the inspiration of earlier releases. Standout tracks like 'One' and 'Dyers Eve' are highlighted, but some songs drag. The review ultimately rates it four stars, recommending earlier albums for a more impactful Metallica experience.

Like a thunderbolt from the clear blue sky, like a Ferrari racing at 280km through the city center,...“And justice for all” arrives and devastates the world!

Perhaps the last, true, magnificent, unforgettable masterpiece of Metallica.

"...And Justice For All is the band’s most technical and musically complex CD and is certainly among the most difficult to listen to."

"'One' is undoubtedly among Hetfield & Co.’s best songs, starting as a ballad and building to an immortal final part."

It's the best Metallica album and stands out from the rest of their trash like a beacon in the dark.

The impression is of a mediocre band trying, perhaps successfully, to produce a better and more original album than their previous ones.

‘...And Justice For All’ represents, for many, the pinnacle of the band; it is still a historical thrash album.

The clean riff in ‘One’ is one of those reflective ones, Hetfield at his best.

"...And Justice For All is indispensable both for die-hard fans and for anyone intending to hear what Metallica managed to produce."

"The famous 'One' is a true masterpiece capable of delivering intense emotions, with a social and musical vortex of contrasts."
