THE REVIEW

The year is 1988: after numerous auditions to find a new bassist following the tragic death of the great Cliff Burton in '86, Metallica 'enlist' Jason Newsted, former bassist of Flotsam and Jetsam.

"...And Justice For All" is the band's most technical and musically complex CD and is certainly among the most difficult to listen to. In this work, the tempos slow down considerably compared to previous works and (in my opinion) it is the last Metallica CD worthy of this name (although the good "Black Album" should be considered). The CD, the group's fourth, opens with the splendid "Blackened", introduced by a fading intro that suddenly stops before Hetfield launches into the main riff. It is followed by "...And Justice For All", over nine minutes long, which deals with the theme of corrupt politicians and a society that only cares about money.

After the negligible "Eye Of The Beholder", it's the turn of "One", from which Metallica's first music video was taken. Undoubtedly among Hetfield & Co.'s best songs, "One" starts as the now inevitable ballad of the CD but eventually takes off with increasing power until it reaches the immortal final part followed by Hammett's tapping solo. After "The Shortest Straw", we find the splendid "Harvester Of Sorrow" and then "To Live Is To Die", a practically instrumental song written in memory of Burton.

The album closes with the splendid "Dyers Eve", a sort of "anthem" of Hetfield against parents. An album definitely to have.

"When a man lies he murders Some part of the world These are the pale deaths which Men miscall their lives All this I cannot bear To witness any longer Cannot the kingdom of salvation Take me home?"

Like a thunderbolt from the clear blue sky, like a Ferrari racing at 280km through the city center,...“And justice for all” arrives and devastates the world!

Perhaps the last, true, magnificent, unforgettable masterpiece of Metallica.

It is impeccable from a musical standpoint, played to perfection.

A good album to get closer to the Metallica sound, but here’s a tip: 'Kill ‘Em All', 'Ride The Lightning', 'Master of Puppets', THOSE ARE ALBUMS THAT REALLY KICK ASS!!!!!

It's the best Metallica album and stands out from the rest of their trash like a beacon in the dark.

The impression is of a mediocre band trying, perhaps successfully, to produce a better and more original album than their previous ones.

‘...And Justice For All’ represents, for many, the pinnacle of the band; it is still a historical thrash album.

The clean riff in ‘One’ is one of those reflective ones, Hetfield at his best.

"...And Justice For All is indispensable both for die-hard fans and for anyone intending to hear what Metallica managed to produce."

"The famous 'One' is a true masterpiece capable of delivering intense emotions, with a social and musical vortex of contrasts."
