...scurrilous, scandalous, TOUGH: Metal Carter breaks out of the mold to write this highly unconventional rap piece.
He starts in a way that's nothing short of direct, with words that immediately allow you to frame the kind of song it is ("...I rape my grandmother in a forest, I stick a Vasco poster in her vagina") and continues with various other metaphors, euphemisms, and quotes, unafraid of coming across as vulgar. The artist challenges censorship by offering blunt, harsh words, perfectly fitted into the musical rhythm ("...at the Standa I’ve already organized six attacks, all failed, I hang out with a clan of die-hard addicts!") and especially with the pounding chorus ("antagonist and I take pride in it, ice clown, ice clown..."), repeated several times, it sticks in your mind better than any summer hit.
The extreme scurrility underscores the anger, the disappointment of Metal Carter, being a spectator of a world that, nowadays, although being the protagonist of its grim stage, cannot hide its many flaws; a world falling apart, a world that, if you think about it, is laughable (a bit like a clown...) even if in reality one could only cry (...which is why it's icy, the laughter gets stuck and doesn't explode).
And, since it's said by a fourteen-year-old, let it make you think...
