Hey buddy, derivative? Probably. But who can say? And honestly, who cares?
Remember the predecessor to this album? Their debut. Come on, "Shot Forth Self Living". No?
Listening to that album is a must. You should never miss a "Short Happy Life" or a "Christmas Song". No one should.
It’s no less worthy than a "Loveless", that album, but no comparisons. Both deserve to exist.
Listen to me. That debut by Medicine was reviewed on DeBaser, in quite an original and impeccable manner, by a certain "lux".
Do one thing. Look up that review, buddy. That piece deserves attention and sheds light on the band. You really should read it. Everyone... well.

What did you say? Medicine? Well, they are stylistically close to My Bloody Valentine, close enough to be considered their American parallel. Even though their debut actually dates back to '92, a year after "Loveless", imagine that.
But you know what? They think less about their shoes and are louder. No, not exactly annoying. It's just that although they aren’t, their production turns out to be a bit more lo-fi compared to the Irish’s. And then, well, a female voice characterized by pop melodies, you know what I mean? ""My Bloody Valentine" playing "Pet Sound"," I read somewhere.
Anyway, don’t misunderstand me when I say "loud". That music is dreamy, cathartic. Pointless. You have to listen to that debut.
No no, don’t worry, you won’t mistake them for My Bloody Valentine. Then there's this element that makes them unique.
What's that? I don’t know. Actually. Well. I mean, I can’t explain it to you. You have to experience it yourself.

This album instead? Forget it, for now. It's the poor copy of the previous one. It lacks new ideas. And even those old ones that characterized the magic and the flawlessness of "Shot Forth Self Living". This one is heavy like few others, perhaps because of a production that leaves something to be desired. Sure, there are a few noteworthy tracks, but overall it just doesn’t work.
You know when the champion, the good one, who thrilled you, loses? Not when they lose and disappoint you. Nor when you frivolously justify them given their glorious past. But when you are humanly supportive of them. You understand. And maybe it moves you anyway. Exactly.

Tongue - lash, lick me
Pulsate, kiss me
I pull you close and it's all I ever wanted
To strip you bare and to see you standing naked
I watch you pulse feel your skin press
Deep into my hands
The time is right so I can take you and I place your...
Tongue - lash, lick me
Pulsate, can't breathe
Pull deep, can't sleep
You breath in me
Your hands move down they are
Moving on their own
Our teeth are banned now it's getting
So much tighter
Our skin it slides back and forth
Across a sheet of glass
And now I know that I'll never
Have to ask again
Tongue - lash, lick me
Pulsate, kiss me
You play me baby you play
Me like a violin
I'm singing sweet so I know that
This can be no sin
Just pull me closer and
This will never ever end
So watch me close and I'll
Show you just how I can...
Tongue - lash, lick me
Pulsate, through me
Pull deep, can't sleep
Your skin thrills me
Tongue - lash, lick me
Pulsate, kiss me
You served me well and it's all
I ever wanted
As I walk out I can see that
You are bleeding
But that's a risk that you're
Taking when you come with me
I'm feeling full and now I'm
breathing so much freer.
