The Profile

Medicine is an American shoegaze/noise-pop band formed in Los Angeles in 1990 by Brad Laner. Known for dense, feedback-saturated guitars and airy melodies, they debuted with Shot Forth Self Living (1992) and contributed “Time Baby III” to The Crow soundtrack. The group has reunited for releases in the 2000s and 2010s.

Formed in Los Angeles (1990) by Brad Laner; key 1990s albums on American Recordings; signature layered guitar noise with pop-leaning vocals; “Time Baby III” appears on The Crow (1994) soundtrack; active periods: 1990–1995, 2003–2004, 2013–present.

Two DeBaser reviews circle Medicine’s early era: one ecstatic deep-dive into Shot Forth Self Living and one skeptical take on The Buried Life as a heavier, less inspired follow-up. Across both, the band’s noisy, dreamlike pull and MBV parallels are front and center.
