THE REVIEW

Black Candy is one of the major pillars in the Italian indie rock scene (among its productions: Milaus, Fine Before You Came, Kech). One of the latest novelties born from this magical womb is May I Refuse, a perfect example of music that springs from the soul, where every note follows the trail of emotions and vanishes into the dimension of dreams.

The cornerstone of this work is a soft, ethereal atmosphere with a strong emotional impact, thanks to arrangements that have nothing to prove, completely conventional, but with a set of instruments that share their parts like the threads of embroidery. It is the music that prevails thanks to intense melodies that graze the skin, culminating in a shiver down the spine. It is a journey across boundless expanses touching a horizon slowly embraced by the setting sun.

Trying to label this band with a style is a completely functional task, useful for any archive X, to categorize them alongside the names of the great giants of UK-branded alternative pop-rock. But credit must be given to the four young Florentines that, beyond the genre, their music is driven by the heart and the refinement of their expressive keys.

A project with great intentions that, with due maturity, could aspire to reach the prestige of artists like Radiohead or Jeff Buckley.
