THE REVIEW

I thought I had already listened to the prog most distant from metal with Aghora and Gordian Knot, and I thought that going beyond would plunge me into the world of pure and simple Fusion, thus restarting my quest for music that is still new and stimulating. But I hadn't calculated on making the acquaintance of this masterpiece of metal experimentation, fortunately, I was enchanted by those first seconds of natural harmonics arpeggio that open the album, leading me to pick up this seemingly insignificant and poorly crafted compact disc from the stall.

Indeed, the first track is characterized by suggestive acoustic atmospheres, supported more by the surprising sax than by the almost absent drum track. But it’s in the second track that everything changes abruptly and painfully: the guitars become distorted, screeching and muffled at the same time, the vocals are desperate, the rhythms, complete with distortion, play lines in full chords. Everything would suggest a brutal piece, bordering on grind, but it is in the first off-beat break that emerges the great progressive rhythmic attitude of our brilliant ones (or syrupy ones?, who knows!), sudden alternations of clean, round, and soft tones and confused distortions, unsettling interventions of wind instruments, tracks halfway between Focus and Gore Obsessed that give way to acoustic ballads that are not any easier to listen to.

One of the least digestible albums I have listened to, but also one of those that have given me the most satisfaction, once learned how to listen to. Picky listeners abstain.

Simply immersed in myself I forget time, death, and pain.

Impossible to describe with rational words.

Close your eyes for a while, relax, and with this masterpiece, all the negatives fade away.

To not give this album the honors it deserves would be completely wrong and petty.
