Some CDs surprise you. It's a pity, though, that you find them much less often these days.
One of these exceptions is called "Colossal Myopia". The author is Marc Rizzo, the current guitarist of Soulfly, and in the past, also a member of Ill Niño. Rizzo has managed to put together twelve breathtaking instrumental tracks.

Here are some examples: "Kilocycle Interval" is a mix of thrash riffs, heavy melodies, and torrential solos. In "Introspection Of An Introvert", Rizzo draws inspiration from Iron Maiden.
The third track is "Remember The Future", showcasing Marc's Latin heart, an element that henceforth permeates the entire album. On the other hand, Rizzo is not only a very talented metal guitarist but also quite a flamenco guitarist. What I find absolutely excellent about "Colossal Myopia" is the ability to juxtapose extremely heavy parts with much more Latin ones without creating any discordances. Rizzo's soloistic vein seems inexhaustible, his fingers churn out notes on the guitar fretboard at impressive speeds; alongside this, however, there are also riffs—very solid, aggressive, and compact riffs.

Marc Rizzo has nothing to envy his far more renowned colleagues for, and I believe this CD will manage to shake up the world of virtuosity, which has long been mired in sterile exercises in style. Anyone who claims to be a lover of the six strings must absolutely get it!!!

Marc Rizzo stands out by giving his songs a very 'Latin' feel, almost creating a new genre: flamen-core.

Buy it with your eyes closed, you won’t regret it!
