Marc Rizzo, former guitarist of Ill Nino and currently a member of Soulfly and The Cavalera Conspiracy, has never been able to fully unleash his abilities in the bands he's been part of, which is why his solo project was born. Gifted with enormous skills, he stands out from many other guitarists mainly by giving his songs a very "Latin" feel, to the point of almost creating a new genre: flamen-core. Besides flamenco, and obviously metal, his solo songs truly have it all: progressive, hard rock, jazz, and everything in between.

So, how is his solo debut? Simply fantastic. It may not have been a huge commercial success (which wasn't even one of his objectives), but in any case, this album is truly fantastic. Solos, riffs, melodies that Marc had envisioned for 10 years while he was busy with other projects, all poured into this work.

Recommended to everyone: both to those who "understand music" and to those who want to pick up their old air guitar, a bit dusty lately, and go wild to Marc's frenzied rhythm. Moreover, it is also very catchy for an instrumental album, but that doesn't take away from its depth!

Going quickly into detail with the songs, after an opening that's a real slap in the face with "Kilocyle Interval" and the audible "Introspection Of An Introvert", among the best in the entire work; "Remember The Future" slows everything down with its acoustic rhythms and an excellent arpeggio. The title track "Colossal Myopia" has many changes between metal sections and flamenco parts. "Infinity" is another very audible acoustic track. "S.P.Q.R." has incredible solos, then it slows down again with "Synapse" and the jazzy "Pantheistic Utopia". "Isosceles" is very reminiscent of thrash, "The Pinata Hits Back" is another very Latin-flavored song. "Chupacabra" is a bit subdued, ending brilliantly with "Milagro", both acoustic.

Buy it with your eyes closed, you won't regret it!

Rizzo's soloistic vein seems inexhaustible, his fingers churn out notes on the guitar fretboard at impressive speeds.

I believe this CD will manage to shake up the world of virtuosity, which has long been mired in sterile exercises in style.
