Dave Sim

Dave Sim is a Canadian cartoonist best known for creating and self-publishing the long-running comic series Cerebus the Aardvark (1977–2004) via Aardvark-Vanaheim. The series ran 300 issues (collected in 'phonebooks', totaling about 6,000 pages). Gerhard joined to draw detailed backgrounds from around issue 65. The work is widely praised for literary and graphic experimentation but is also known for Sim's controversial positions expressed in later volumes.
