 This is a CD of what is called Viking metal, incorporating black roots (very few) and a lot of folk/epic influences, hence a significant use of traditional instruments including a 36string Kantele(???).

 I intended to spit some general hate in this review... especially towards those who don’t listen to metal and think they’re smart for it.

Ensiferum are a Finnish folk/viking metal band formed in 1995 in Helsinki by guitarist Markus Toivonen, blending folk melodies and themes with melodic death metal aggression. The lineup later featured vocalist/guitarist Petri Lindroos.
