Lucio Battisti

Unthinkable and deplorable to give less than 5 to this giant of Italian music: "national-popular" yet extremely refined, always ahead of everyone, in short, a genius. Although I personally appreciate Mogol's lyrics little, with sporadic exceptions (I find those of "Anima latina" to be very commendable, but that's a perfect album in every way); I am literally crazy about the acrobatic lyrics from the Panella period, one of the most daring and unconventional experiments I remember in the field of Italian song, and moreover, it was fully successful.

Lucio Battisti

Lucio Battisti (1943–1998) was an Italian singer-songwriter and composer, celebrated for his collaborations first with lyricist Mogol and later with Pasquale Panella. His career spans 1960s pop classics to later experimental, electronic 'white' albums.
