(Cento, 1550 / Padua, 1631). A well-known Aristotelian philosopher with an Averroist orientation, he advocated for the mortality of the soul and its inseparable bond to the body. Suspected of heresy, he was denounced to the Padua Inquisition in 1598. Already a law student in Ferrara, he was a pupil of Federico Pendasio and a lecturer in natural philosophy. A brilliant author of pastoral dramas dedicated to Alfonso II d’Este. Mentioned by Girolamo Tiraboschi in his Storia della letteratura italiana.
